🚧 The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has taken significant action to strengthen oversight of the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations. As of December 1, 2025, more than 3,000 training providers have been removed from the Training Provider Registry (TPR) due to non-compliance with federal standards.
🚨 An additional 4,500 providers have received proposed removal notices—signaling that FMCSA is taking a firm stance on training integrity and safety.
This review is part of FMCSA’s broader evaluation of more than 16,000 providers currently listed on the TPR. Removal may occur for issues such as:
❌ Falsified or manipulated training data
❌ Failure to meet curriculum, facility, or instructor standards
❌ Poor recordkeeping or refusal to provide documentation during audits
About ELDT
✔️ Implemented in February 2022, the ELDT rule establishes minimum training requirements for individuals:
✔️ Applying for their first CDL
✔️ Upgrading a CDL (Class B → Class A)
✔️ Seeking a passenger, school bus, or hazmat endorsement
✔️ All applicants must complete both theory and behind-the-wheel training through an approved and listed provider. Proof of completion is required before taking the appropriate skills or knowledge test.
👏 FMCSA’s recent actions underscore a renewed focus on accountability, training
